The legacy 3di5 software
3di5 is the previous Microsoft Access-based version of the 3di clinical interview. This page preserves interface guidance and support information for trained users and organisations that still work with that version.
The 3di5 interface
The 3di5 organises the interview into numbered forms, tracks question status and provides two tree-based navigation tools. These screenshots and instructions describe only the legacy software.

Support for existing 3di5 users
Version-specific operating guidance, installation information and support contacts for 3di5 are kept together here.
3di5 installation and licensing
An installer for the 3di5 software comes as part of the training programme. Once a training date is agreed, installation is arranged on the laptop you bring to training. In NHS Trusts this may be completed by your IT department using supplied instructions; self-installation is also common in private practice.
The course fee includes:
- Training course and materials
- A 3di5 installer and single-user licence for the software version provided
- One year of technical support, beginning with email and with telephone follow-up available
3di5 is licensed per user. Your entitlement stays with you if you move between employers, and trained users may work with the software in more than one context, for example in both NHS and private practice.
A new 3di6 workspace is coming
The new 3di6 brings patients, assessments, guided interviewing, review and reporting into a modern clinical workspace, carrying forward the established 3di method in place of the Microsoft Access-era interface. When an interview is complete, it generates a clinician report or a narrative summary letter for parents.
